How I Stay Grounded in Mind, Body & Spirit—And How You Can Too
The world feels a little (or a lot) uncertain right now. Maybe your mind is racing with what-ifs, your body is carrying tension you can’t seem to shake, or your spirit feels disconnected, searching for meaning in the chaos.
I’m there, too.
As an energy healer, I’ve had my fair share of moments where everything felt unsteady—where I felt pulled in a million directions, grasping for control. But what I’ve learned over the years is that the key to navigating uncertainty isn’t in trying to control everything—it’s in learning how to ground yourself in the here and now.
Grounding is a way of anchoring yourself, bringing your energy back to center, and finding peace even when things feel shaky. It’s about reminding yourself that no matter what’s happening in the outside world, you are safe, supported, and connected to something bigger.
And trust me, it works.
If you’ve been feeling ungrounded, scattered, or overwhelmed, I want to share some of the most powerful grounding techniques that have helped me (and my clients) feel strong, centered, and clear—even when life feels unpredictable.
1. Moving My Body to Get Out of My Head
When I’m feeling stuck in a spiral of overthinking or stress, I know it’s time to get out of my head and into my body. Movement is one of the quickest ways to shift stagnant energy and bring yourself back to the present.
I used to think that grounding meant sitting still, meditating, or trying to force myself to be calm. But I’ve realized that for me, grounding often looks like:
Taking a barefoot walk outside and feeling the earth beneath my feet. (Seriously, try this—it’s magic.)
Dancing in my living room to my favorite song and letting my body move however it wants.
Doing yoga or stretching and noticing where I’m holding tension.
When you move, you reconnect with your body. And when you reconnect with your body, you naturally pull yourself away from anxious thoughts and back into the present.
Try this:
Stand up, close your eyes, and imagine roots growing from the soles of your feet, deep into the earth.
Take a deep breath and feel yourself become more steady, more rooted, more here.
2. Using Breathwork to Calm the Chaos
Let’s talk about the breath. It’s always with us, always available, yet when we’re anxious, we forget to breathe deeply.
I used to underestimate breathwork. I’d think, How can something as simple as breathing really make a difference? But the truth is, your breath is like a direct line to your nervous system. When you breathe deeply, you signal to your body that it’s safe. And when your body feels safe, your mind can relax.
One of my favorite techniques? The 4-7-8 breath:
Inhale deeply through your nose for 4 seconds.
Hold the breath for 7 seconds.
Exhale slowly through your mouth for 8 seconds.
Repeat a few times, feeling yourself soften with each breath.
After just a minute or two, you’ll notice a shift. Your shoulders drop, your thoughts slow down, and you feel more in control.
3. Repeating Grounding Affirmations to Shift My Energy
I’ll be honest—I used to roll my eyes at affirmations. They felt a little too simple, like just saying a phrase could actually change how I felt. But then I started really paying attention to the words I was telling myself every day.
So often, we repeat affirmations without realizing it. Except instead of helpful ones, we say things like:
💭 I don’t know what I’m doing.
💭 Everything is falling apart.
💭 I’m not strong enough for this.
And the more we say those things, the more we believe them.
So I made a small but powerful shift: Every time I caught myself thinking something negative, I replaced it with a grounding affirmation instead.
Now, when I start to feel untethered, I repeat:
🌿 I am safe. I am supported. I am grounded.
🌿 I trust the timing of my life.
🌿 I am exactly where I need to be.
It doesn’t magically erase uncertainty, but it does rewire your energy and remind you that you’re stronger than you think.
4. Eating and Drinking With Intention
I never used to think about food as a grounding tool, but the more I’ve tuned into my body, the more I’ve realized that what I eat and drink affects how I feel energetically.
When I’m feeling ungrounded, I reach for:
🥕 Root vegetables like sweet potatoes, beets, and carrots—because they literally grow in the earth, they help me feel more connected to it.
🍵 Warm herbal teas like chamomile or ginger, which feel like a hug for my nervous system.
💧 Lots of water—because dehydration can make me feel even more scattered.
One small shift—like choosing a warm, nourishing meal over processed junk—can help you feel more stable, supported, and in tune with your body.
5. Creating a Daily Ritual That Feels Sacred
When life feels uncertain, routines give us something steady to hold onto.
For me, grounding rituals don’t have to be elaborate. Sometimes, they’re as simple as:
🕯️ Lighting a candle in the morning and setting an intention for the day.
📖 Journaling for a few minutes to get my thoughts out of my head and onto paper.
🔮 Holding a crystal (black tourmaline is my go-to for grounding) and breathing deeply.
Find something that feels sacred to you—something that reminds you that you are safe, you are connected, and you are whole.
6. Limiting What (and Who) I Give My Energy To
In times of uncertainty, the energy around us can feel heavy. I’ve learned (the hard way) that if I don’t protect my energy, I absorb stress from news, social media, and even other people.
So I’ve made some changes:
🚫 I limit my time scrolling through news and social media. (If it’s making me feel worse, I step away.)
🌿 I prioritize time in silence or nature. (Even just 10 minutes outside makes a difference.)
🎶 I listen to uplifting music or podcasts that shift my mindset.
Ask yourself: Is this feeding my peace or my anxiety? And choose accordingly.
7. Trusting That I Am Exactly Where I Need to Be
This is the hardest one for me. Surrender. Trust. Letting go of the need to control everything.
But when I look back, I see that even in my most uncertain moments, I was still being guided. I was still learning, growing, and being shaped into the person I’m meant to be.
So when uncertainty creeps in, I remind myself:
💫 I don’t have to have all the answers right now.
💫 I am being supported in ways I can’t see yet.
💫 Everything is unfolding exactly as it should.
And when I do that? I feel lighter. More grounded. More at peace.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by uncertainty, know this: You are not alone.
Try these grounding techniques. See what works for you. And remember—no matter what’s happening around you, you have the power to find your center, to stand strong, and to trust that everything is working out for your highest good.
You’ve got this. 💛
